Monday Mario

A month or so ago, someone gave Boyfriend a purple carrot. Yeah, I didn't know such a thing existed, either.

Of course, I got really excited thinking about the strange and exotic Culinary Makeup this purple carrot would paint on Mario.

We gave Mario the purple carrot which he promptly treated as if it was of the mundane orange variety.

He even took a short break and tried to incubate the thing.

And at the end of all that. This is all that was left of the purple carrot:

I know. I was highly disappointed, too.

I wonder if it tastes just like a regular carrot. He is such a cutie pie!!

That carrot is seriously wild-looking! Kind of like those purple potatoes...that just taste like potatoes.

It looks like Mario enjoyed it, though I can't imagine that incubating it was all that comfortable.

I was rather hoping to see a purple bib post-carrot myself. (That shot of him with the carrot in his mouth reminded me of those photos of snakes that unhinge their jaws to eat eggs and such.) Still, in the end, Mario asserted his dominance over the carrot and that's what counts.

Did you know there are also purple potatoes, as well as blue potatoes?

We like purple potatoes here! They are deep purple all the way through and taste very creamy when cooked (Freckles, of course, likes hers raw.) We've never seen a purple carrot.

I've cooked with purple potatoes, but I'll have to keep my eye out for purple carrots now, too.

I think those were developed by someone at A&M, but I haven't fact checked that. Unfortunately purple tastes just like regular orange!

This is my first time to hear about this purple carrot... I am glad Mario liked it despite of the strange color. Yah I would love to taste it to and try to compare it with the orange one. I though he will just leave the carrot rotten on the rabbit hutch but surprisingly the carrot was consumed.
