My newest toy is a Nikon DSLR. I took photography for two years in high school and was a photographer for my high school newspaper a year after that. This is back in the day of 35mm black and white photography. I used my dad's old, heavy, metal, Nikon SLR which is an awesome piece of equipment but pretty bare bones. My new digital toy with hundreds of buttons and knobs is a bit intimidating. I haven't done much with it except point and shoot (I'm hoping to attend a workshop next month). But I have to say I am so impressed with the results with my minimal knowledge. I really wanted the camera to be able to take better photos of Mario and also to be able to get better race photos. For both of these things fast, prompt shutter speed is key.
Fast shutter speed, indeed!
I call this Mario's "Neurotic Bunny" habit. Every now and then he chews on the bars.
Another thing is the ability to zoom. If Mario is doing something I want to get a photo of, I usually have to get really close to him which causes him to stop and stare at me. Or, he will abandon his cute activity to come running over to me. With the new camera I can zoom in and he is unaware I'm taking photos. I also get an immediate reaction from the camera which means I capture exactly the moment I want versus waiting for the lag of the camera and capturing some other random moment.

what a cute little bunny mouth!
OMG. So cute. That last pic. LOL
Bunnypants always stops that cute thing and runs to me too! I hate that camera lag but my camera has a pretty good zoom at least. So if she stays in position long enough I can get something cute. :-)
These are great! I love the little "feet in the air" pose. Cadbury chews his cage bars sometimes, too. I don't know why. Silly rabbit.
Yay for the ability to take more cute Mario pictures!
He sure makes a cute subject for you photos on your new camera!!!
More Mario for Monday! Huuuray for the upgraded camera.
Way to catch that mid hop action!
Oh such cuteness, i love the bunny mouthj in the last photo but also the action shot at the top of the post.
I love the last pic! So cute! Is your new camera heavy?
I am thinking of buying a new camera too. Do you like the Canon? Is it tough to work? I am not tech savy so I don't want to spend an eternity trying to figure the thing out:)

I totally bought a DSLR so I could take better pictures of my pets too:) No shame in that!
Love the one where Mario is chewing on the bars of his cage. Pumpkin does that too when she wants to come out!
I want one!! (the DSLR, not the bunny - although that's tempting too since he's so cute) I have always had Canon cameras and loved them, but I heard the Nikon is good too. How much did you spend and did you buy any lenses? I'm so tempted, but sooo terrible at buying myself things - especially since it's expensive!
Looking good, Mario!!! Now we just need to have pics of Roadbunner's beauty session :P
