It only happens when I swim longer than 25ish laps so I should be okay for a sprint tri. I hate it when the water goes in my ears (and the idea of lake water in my ears horrifies me a little) so I may give the earplugs a try. And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one getting queasy in calm pools.

LADaze, I've always considered sherbet to be of a slight dairy base and sorbet to be more fruity ice. Looking at the picture, it probably is sorbet!

Shirleyperly & LADaze, thanks for responding about the watches...I guess they're great watches and I've never heard of them. Boyfriend thinks most people have. Mostly when I was just swimming freestyle all the time before I started my clinic. I didn't know what it was, but I thought I would hurl a few times too... Now that I've started in on workouts and the time in the pool is split between freestyle, different strokes, and pull buoys I haven't had an issue. Of course whether it will come back to haunt me on longer swims remains to be seen.Runner Leanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05920305723750242672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3349463963034114839.post-82098674562371426502008-09-17T08:44:00.000-07:002008-09-17T08:44:00.000-07:00WOOOO for no pain! that is great news! wow i neve...WOOOO for no pain! that is great news!

wow i never thought about the motion sickness in the pool - ekk that would not be fun!Aronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17418163097675963683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3349463963034114839.post-25936640500523585582008-09-17T07:46:00.000-07:002008-09-17T07:46:00.000-07:00I always thought it was sorbet...So does that mean...I always thought it was sorbet...

So does that mean I should stop throwing money away for pedicures once I start swimming? You buy these little wax deals, soften them up in your hand, and stick them in. Then toss them in the garbage.

PS, I bet if you do a short Tri ( about 1/4 mile swim) and drink about 1/4 of a bottle of coke first, the caffein and adrenaline will pretty well mask out any queasyness.RGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02017190779860810318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3349463963034114839.post-85008916609786054962008-09-16T21:13:00.000-07:002008-09-16T21:13:00.000-07:00YAY for no pain!I'm very prone to motion sickness ...YAY for no pain!

I'm very prone to motion sickness and used to get nauseous often when swimming too. For a year and a half, I just loathed swimming (besides the fact I was terrible at it) and ocean swimming was the worst. I wish I'd done this much sooner but, finally, I took lessons from a different instructor who taught me a new way to swim freestyle that did not involve as much rolling from side to side, which helped a lot. And when I swim in the ocean, I always take some ginger pills to calm my stomach. If I know it's going to be rough water swim, then I take Bonine too (motion sickness medicine). Ear plugs help some people as well. It's taken me 2.5 years but now I love swimming!

And I've never heard of Omega watches or IWUC.ShirleyPerlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09237828591170908960noreply@blogger.com
